This post has received a lot of traffic via Pinterest… keep in mind when choosing this color that it is actually darker and more gray than it photographed because of the lighting. It was still gorgeous when done but not quite as “minty”.
I have been DYING to share this post with you… AJ found this dresser on the side of the road when we were flipping the house in Gloucester. He thought we could use it to stage the house when we went to sell it but… we never sold it. We decided to just rent it so we didn’t need to stage anything but I finally got around to redoing the dresser and I’m in love with how it turned out (despite that I am going to sell it).
It’s pretty bad, isn’t it? There weren’t any knobs so we had to pound the back of it to get the drawers out.
The side has some damage where the wood was pulling away.
Pretty rough, right? Can’t you see why I was dying to give it a makeover? I’m typing this as I listen to Adele … I’m pretty sure there is no one else who I’d rather be listening to while blogging. Or running. Or cooking. She’s basically amazing… she’s even more amazing than this transformation here:
Isn’t it incredible what some good paint will do? I put a couple of coats of Kilz Primer on it, filled in holes with wood glue, used some adhesive to fix spots that were flaking off and then topped it off with some of Benjamin Moore’s Azores (it’s a Pottery Barn color that Annie suggested to me).
Are you not just in love with this color? It’s my life color. Well, this or Ballard Designs Spa Linen color. It’s a toss up.
I’ve been in love with Anthropologie’s knobs for a while but … mmm… Anthropologie is pricy. I’m cheap. But, while AJ and I were in New York for Christmas and April and Kerry gave us a date day AJ and I ended up at Hobby Lobby and I scored these fabulous glass ones for 50% off so each knob was $4 (total $26). All drawers needed their pull holes filled in so I did that with wood filler (amazing stuff, first time I’ve used it) and then used my detail sander (Black and Decker’s Mouse) that AJ gave me for Christmas to sand all the residue off.
And some outtakes… 🙂 These make me smile because somehow that sippy cup gets thrown everywhere. I think we have three thrown over our first floor now.
