A friend of a friend gave AJ this trivet that she had found at a yard sale… and no, it wasn’t because she thought it was AJ’s style…
it was because she saw this on the back and thought he had to have it. 🙂
Well, the flowers don’t go with our decor, but we had been thinking of ways to use an old atlas AJ’s aunt had given him. So while Drew slept I quickly grabbed the atlas, some modge podge and some scissors and got to work cutting along the outline of the trivet.
I made sure to include Hamilton, New York where AJ grew up… see, it’s right there in the center of the picture:
I just put a layer of Modge Podge over the trivet, secured the piece of map I cut out and then put two more layers of Modge Podge over the map once the bottom layer had dried (15 minutes after I applied it). I think I’ll cover it with some polyurthane (that was AJ’s suggestion) to protect it but it’s pretty much done. A Thursday easy and free craft for you! 🙂
