This is one of my favorite recipes that my mom made growing up: Swedish Brownies…
I have such a thing for the amazing flavor of almond extract that is prominent in these brownies (or should I call them blondies)? This recipe is so easy and as my BF Danielle says “I just kept walking over to the pan and taking a little more and then walking back and taking a little more”. π Well said, D. I do the same thing!

for someone who mainly only likes desserts with chocolate these are crazy good!!!
Swedish Brownies are the bomb. Almond extract is an under-used fab ingredient!
Yummmm….
“Almond extract is an under-used fab ingredient!” ABSOLUTELY!
I just posted a Blondie recipe and these are similar, but the texture looks quite different. I’m sure the almond extract adds a distinct flavor as well. I have to try them! π
A friend pinned this recipe, and I had to come read the post. As a Swedish American, I love finding new and interesting recipes. If you like these brownies, I predict you’ll also love the traditional Swedish Almond Cake. The recipe comes with the pan.

I have two of the regular pans and they work just fine with a little Pam sprayed in them.
These are my new favorite treat!! Thank you so much for posting!!
you are very welcome… they aren’t healthy but they are delish. π
Oh my!!! Just found this on Pinterest and can’t wait to try!! I love almond also… It was the flavor of my wedding cake. It has a taste of sophistication. π
You are right… definitely a sophisticated taste. π
Been looking for this recipe since 1983! First tasted Swedish Brownies at Hay Scales Exchange in No. Andover MA then, and several years thereafter, but could never find the actual baker. Not a big chocolate fan so thought these were just WONDERFUL. So glad to finally stumble across the recipe so many years later – thanks so much!
Well I hope you like them and they live up to what you tasted 30 years ago. π
