I’ll admit it right now. I didn’t have really any festivity on the outside of my house till yesterday. It is amazing how getting sick right in the middle of the Christmas season can set you back… or it can force you to be less stressed out and just realize “okay, this year I can’t do it all… it’s decorate the outside of the house while wheezing and falling asleep and hating every minute of it or I can let my wonderful husband and mom pamper me so I can get better.” I chose the latter and then did some decorating on the inside while I felt up to it. It felt mostly good. Although I felt a little like a slacker. 🙂
Our Christmas tree is very similar to last years, although this year I did something different instead of a tree skirt. My mom had this giant galvanized bucket from Kim’s graduation party and never uses it anymore, we are putting it to good use this summer. Since our tree weighs about 10 pounds I just picked it up in the tree stand and plunked it down (while trying not to tip the entire thing over!).
I got a few ornaments on clearance this year at Hobby Lobby and Pottery Barn for Drew to put on the tree as part of his Advent Calendar. These snowflakes were a find from Restoration Hardware probably about five years ago during their after Christmas 75% off event. I’m in love with them and the way they twinkle with the Christmas lights.
