Today is the last day we’ll shower in a mildewy tub or go to the bathroom on a toilet sinking through the floor. Or look at our peel and stick floor tiles with the black glue seeping up through the seems.
This afternoon after AJ returns from work it’s all coming out (except for the window which we have to special order once AJ opens the wall this weekend and does some measuring). Can we say “excited”? 🙂 Though it doesn’t look this outdated anymore we are still thrilled for the change:
Yesterday AJ had to do some reading for a class he’s taking so he asked for an hour to read so Drew and I headed out to the store to pick out a paint color (and to the cobbler to have him replace the bottoms on my black boot heels). But before we left a minor miracle happened… we ordered our floor tile on January 14, we need it to go under the sink and toilet so AJ doesn’t have to make those tricky cuts. My mother-in-law, April, recently used this tile in her bathroom facelift and and we loved it; but for some reason AJ and I both thought it was something we purchased at Home Depot… no online only. So after searching a few HDs and realizing it was no where to be found we ordered it on the 14th. They said it takes three days to process the order and then 3-5 days for delivery. It was going to be a miracle if it arrived before the long weekend was over. I got an email yesterday morning that said it was shipped and they were on our back stoop yesterday afternoon. WHAT??!? What did that happen? Anyways… I brought the tile with me to the hardware store.
My mom met me at the paint store and we loved the suggestions people suggested on Facebook or on the blog but nothing looked right. The grays with tan looked great with the tile but wouldn’t necessarily look great with the penny tile in the tub (there is no tan veining there the way there are in the floor tile).
Have you tried to pick out a gray before? Grays have so many different undertones: greens, tans, blues and purples. It is hard to find a gray that is just gray. See what I mean?
After placing all the samples on the tile I feel in love with two: Benjamin Moore’s Gray Owl and Harbor Gray. My mom and I both agreed Harbor Gray just went better with our entire bathroom and we settled on this. It’s funny, I’m looking at this paint swatch and thinking how blue / purple it looks on the screen and how gray-ish it looks on the actual paint chip I have sitting in front of me.
I’m at the gym now in their cafe typing away and Drew is in his amazing children’s program where he has just fallen in love with the older lady, Betty, who hangs out with all the kids his age. He talks about her all the time. I’m off to walk on the treadmill (I gradually worked the incline up to 10 yesterday and then reduced it over a period of half and hour, it’s been good exercise. On days when my pregnant bod just isn’t up to that I reduce the incline, speed or time.
