Thank you to those of you who left your thoughts for what to do about moving Drew into a twin bed. Since we have just three weeks max left before Baby comes, we decided to move the crib into Drew’s new room so he just has to get used to one change at a time. Then he can decide when he wants to make the switch and we’ll give him the choice each day. Worst comes to worst, Baby will outgrow the bassinet before Drew is ready and we purchase a crib off of Craigslist for her. But this way Drew does it on his own time and he doesn’t feel like she’s pushing him out and have any negative thoughts in relation to her…
We had our ultrasound yesterday that determined Baby’s size. She’s at six pounds now with three and a half weeks to go. The ultrasound tech says that she generally measures her babies small, meaning that the babies are usually larger than she predicts. Have you ever seen a 3D ultrasound photo? They are truly incredible. I wish we could have had a photo of that; it was like she was right in my arms. Here is her profile picture, she’s sticking out her upper lip and she’s got her hand on her forehead.
I’ve made a couple more changes to the nursery.
The changing pad cover is from Babies R Us, I got it with one of their 20% off coupons.
The mirror was previously black (it’s twin is above our sink in the bathroom) but I was a crazy woman and went outside to spray paint it after our big storm this past weekend. I am debating painting it gray because, although you can’t really tell from these photos, the white from the shade, table and mirror aren’t perfect together (and not even in a cool layered look either).
I have the mirror secured with just a nail now but need to head down to the hardware store to pick up some of the 3M tape to secure it more to the wall (and all the frames above the crib) so there are no accidents with grabby little hands.
We’ve added a lamp that we had in the master bedroom and I put an $11 Target shade on it. I just purchased some gray ribbon to possibly do a trim around the top and / or bottom of the shade but want to have the walls painted before doing that just to make sure it coordinates well.
This piggy bank was one of Baby’s Christmas gifts from my Mom and Dad. Drew has a matching one with blue polka dots, he loves finding coins to put into his bank. Teach them good money habits while they are young, right?
I’m pretty sure this basket was from my sister when Drew was born. It is the perfect size for Baby’s diapers and wipes.
Okay, let’s talk about Baby’s diapers for one minute. AHHHH!!! These are newborn diapers, up to 10 pounds, which means Drew was in these (for all of 10 seconds) but look how much he’s grown now! She is going to be such a peanut compared to him!
It’s so fun for me to watch the room come together. Drew is still sleeping in there so the crib is still very boyish but we’ll move it out into his bigger room hopefully this weekend. I can’t wait to show you what I have in store for the rest of the room…
