My mom was so wonderful and gracious and took Drew on Thursday for nearly the whole day… I was able to get my eyebrows waxed and my hair cut (maybe for the last time before Baby comes) and then work on painting the nursery. The paint was low VOC and odor, don’t worry!
I chose Behr’s Lavender Lace as the color for the nursery.
After my hair was chopped and my unruly eyebrows tamed, and after I ravenously ate a jelly donut stick from Dunkins and stopped by AJ’s school to say hi I got to work painting. I was covering this ultra light blue; it wasn’t drastically different from what was currently on the walls in the nursery but it made it more feminine.
This photo above actually looks a lot like the new paint color. It was taken at night with the lights on in the room… the color below is a little more true to life.
Here it is after two coats and everything put back together! If you aren’t able to notice a difference, it’s okay. In “real life” I can tell the difference. 🙂
I opted to paint the built in drawers the same color as the wall because when the crib is below the frames I wanted the drawers to be less conspicuous through the crib slats. Speaking of the crib… it’s in Drew’s new room now, as a toddler bed, which he has taken to like a champ… cue the sighs of relief from AJ and me.
My mom is doing amazing work on the crib bumper and crib skirt so you’ll get to see that on the crib once Drew is ready to move into the twin bed with the rail (and out of the crib) and once my mom has completed the project. We figure there isn’t a huge rush, other than wanting it to be done out of excitement, because Baby will be in the bassinet for at least two months.
Look up at the photo above (the “before photo”) of the changing table. Do you see what the window slats looked like previously? They were the only ones in the house (except for the window in the sometime mater bath) that we hadn’t painted yet. I’m not sure why we waited… because it’s going to look fab. Right now I’ve got only one coat of white on it and oodles of paint all over the glass but I’ll do another coat tonight and then get it cleaned up tomorrow.
Did you notice how grungy the floors look? I’ve just finished the first part of a mini makeover to them so later this week I’ll show you how the room looks more polished already.
