I’m always looking for easy ways to do things… when I discovered that free photo editing site Pic Monkey has a create a collage button for a Facebook timeline I started using that to do the cover photos for Migonis Home’s Facebook page. It is incredibly easy and it makes it the perfect dimension for Facebook’s cover photo. I wanted to create my collage in Google’s free Picasa this time, because I find their collage feature easiest to use, so I just googled the dimensions of the Facebook cover photo (which work perfectly for Blogger’s Header).
To start… open up Picasa and chose the images you would like to use for your collage. I chose four images and then selected “Create Collage” from the “Create” drop down menu.
Your collage will come out looking something like this if you imput the dimensions to be 815 x 315 for a Facebook cover photo (chose the custom format option and input the dimensions here). You can change the width of the white grid lines on the left here as well.
What Picasa lacks is the ability to put an overlay over your photos. I use Pic Monkey for this.
Open up Pic Monkey an select “Edit Photo”.
Click the overlay button on the left (the one below the P).
Here I used the rectangular shape overlay and then, as you can see in the Overlay Pop-Up Box, I moved the color up to white and then edited the fade or transparency feature.
The features for adding in text in Pic Monkey are limited unless you are a Royale member. I save the collage with the overlay and then go back to Picasa to add in text (I downloaded a number of texts that I really like here). The text feature is on the left of the screen below.
Want to add it into Blogger? Get into the Design screen, hit Layout and then edit the Header at the top of the page.
Under “Image” click “from your computer” and chose the collage you just made and saved in Picasa.
If you are making this for your Facebook page just upload it and save the changes!
Hope this helps!
