I bought this mirror at Savers, a local thrift store, about a year ago… I loved the shape, size and price ($12). The finish? Mmm not so much. It was sort of like the builder’s special cabinets that were installed into homes in the 1990s.
For some reason I think the darker color works with the beachier color scheme I have going on here… not sure why but I love it. Maybe because it makes more a statement now instead of blending into the wall.
I figured I’d show it to you from every angle… except the angle that shows our messy other end of the room thanks to a desk that is being delivered today to a transitional house I’m working on and some of the stuff I’ve decided to clear out of the room to give us a blank slate here…
One of my three best accessories sits right on the couch. Her brother is upstairs napping and my main man is off showing a house to some clients. 🙂
Wouldn’t it be nice if it always stayed this clean? Yes. But quite frankly about five minutes after Drew wakes up there will be puzzles and cars everywhere and the coral on the coffee table will immediately get placed on the mantle away from little arms that have a good aim. 🙂
I figured I’d use this opportunity to show you the other side of the room. I brought the coral chair I reupholstered in here and it’s helping give me a love of this room I’ve never had before. It always felt blah to me and I was just waiting for inspiration to hit. I almost completely cleared off the mantle to make way for my latest brainstorm… you’ll see later. 🙂
I love bringing in more blues into the room and embracing the fact that we live less than a mile to the ocean. The large basket was something I found in my pre-AJ days while running. I was about half to 3/4 of a mile away from home when I spotted the basket in someone’s trash. It’s quite large but it didn’t stop me from carrying it home through Beverly’s downtown. Yep, I’ve been trash picking for many years and am proud of it.
One last shot of the room… if you are just visiting for the first time feel free to shoot me an email for sources or visit our Home Tour page.
Tomorrow kicks off Wedding Month so come back then to see Carly’s sweet (literally) wedding.
