Since Wednesday was our anniversary we wanted to do something special for dinner. Sometimes for big days we’ll go out and other times we’ll stay in and cook something special (for example, on Valentine’s Day we stayed in and made coconut shrimp with an orange marmalade dipping sauce… to die for).
I’ve been itching to do a nautical tablescape for a while at the site of our rehearsal dinner, Tuck’s Point right here in Manchester, and our anniversary worked out as being the perfect day to shoot it right after I purchased our lobster for dinner that night.
I mixed some of the nautical stuff I have on hand with some of the supplies that my friend Heather purchased for her son’s pirate birthday party.
Heather loaned me the buoy, the burlap strip and the stripped cloth . I love how they compliment each other so well!
The lobster crackers are from Williams-Sonoma. It was one of those things you register for your wedding and know you won’t use daily but they come in oh so handy on fun lobster eating nights…
Anyone who has eaten lobster before knows that you need extra napkins, end of story. And if your napkins are fun nautical colors then you get bonus points even though it won’t necessarily make your lobster taste any better. 🙂
This vase was another thing on loan from Heather… I love the rope and the hydrangeas (from my parents’ gardens) together… few flowers say “beachy” like the hydrangea. Is that personal preference?
For our rehearsal dinner we had lobster, steamers and corn… I threw all of those things into this basket, which usually resides in Drew’s room. It got a good scrubbing after the lobsters relaxed in there.
Come back Monday to see what we did with these guys later in the day…
Please comment here… (I want at least 20 comments!)
I have so much fun going to a spot and photographing a table setting. Where should I shoot one for next month? If you aren’t from around here and don’t know places then give me a general idea (like “farm” or “woods”) and then, if you are really thinking hard then give me a theme to work with… I love challenges! 🙂
