Here is the project that I mentioned was in the works on Monday… We added an upholstered cornice to Elle’s room for a little more architectural interest. It took maybe an hour total and it adds so much to the space. About 90% of this project was done while both of them slept (aren’t nap time projects the best?). And… can anyone notice a change to the room I didn’t blog about?
Here’s what it turned out like… I’m in love.
I’ll let the photos do the talking about how to make your own upholstered cornice.
The long board only was only about $10 from Lowes but you could get something in whatever price range you wanted depending on how tall and long you wanted your board to be. I had Lowe’s cut the long board too so don’t let the cutting scare you off!
We used scrap wood for the end pieces since we knew they would be covered by the fabric anyways.
My fabric wasn’t long enough to cover the six and a half foot board without either sewing or doing some no-sew hem tape so I broke out the trusty iron and did a little Heat ‘N Bond which worked out beautifully to secure the two long and skinny pieces together.
Here are the finished shots! I love love love how it turned out!
Elle enjoying her new poof and purple and gray room…
Last but not least Elle loves the mirror right above her changing table and I wanted to capture her adorable expressions before she got too old and tired of the game. 🙂
Next week is Facebook week on the blog… I’ll introduce it on Friday but for now don’t forget to “like” Migonis Home on Facebook to be a part of the fun… there won’t be anything on the blog next week since we’ll be on vacation so make sure you tune in there!
