I had so much fun doing this Shabby Apple photo shoot with my sister at the end of August that we decided to put together another one this month, but doing it with a slightly different theme:
I was on the search for a pair of black skinny ankle pants for months and I kept having two problems:
1. They were jeans.
2. Stores only had regular black pants.
And then somehow my mom discovered that Banana Republic had a great pair and by the time I got to the sale rack someone else had snagged them. Enter in Old Navy. I bought this pair online (they don’t have them in the stores) for $32.50.
I wore this outfit on Saturday night to go out with AJ to the new plaza in Lynnfield… we were going out to the Yard House for dinner but were derailed to eating at the fabulous Whole Foods when we discovered the wait was between an hour and 15 minutes and an hour and 45. I could have ate my arm I was so hungry so off we went to Whole Foods were I had to restrain myself from eating the kale chips directly out of the salad bar.
I wanted to make up an outfit to go with the skinnies that was comfy enough to run errands in with the kids but didn’t look sloppy. I popped on my jean jacket (DKNY) which was a gift from my parents a few years ago with my faux Burberry scarf that I got off the streets of New York. I generally buy nicer bags and carry them for years rather than buying a new bag each season, I find it works out to be a better investment. This one came from the Coach outlet. The shoes are from Payless years ago…
I know this one isn’t showing off my black skinny ankle pants but Kim managed to grab a good head shot… which is rare since I smile and instantly my eyes disappear.
Kim and I had fun playing around for these photos. I paired this outfit with a dressy blouse from Ann Taylor LOFT that I purchased a few years ago and a zebra belt. The bracelet is a necklace from Stella and Dot but I’d probably not wear it if I was going out.
It looks too edgy for my taste with the bracelet. Sometimes I can’t tell till I see it in the photo…
If you wanted to make your outfit instantly dressier just pair it with a blazer and it becomes more work appropriate.
This next outfit is designed for work… I paired one of my favorite 3/4 length sleeved blazers from J.Crew with a simple black scarf and a patent leather Coach bag. I only buy Coach bags from the outlet when they are on major sale… and as a bonus they are always seems to have more classic designs than what the mall store carries.
Okay, tell me… what outfit post would you like to see for November?
1. Three ways to wear a white button down
2. Brown: Tweed and Riding Boots
I’m trying to do an outfit post for December that’ll be on dressing to coordinate with your spouse for holiday parties. AJ wasn’t super into it when I suggested it. 🙂
