Well, Friends… it’s the last day of the year and it’s time to recap out goals for 2013. To read all about them click here. We’ve made some great progress on the house, even if we didn’t hit every goal!

Goal #1: Wood floors in our bedroom
Here is the before shot, and of course there is only a snippet of plywood showing on the floor.
We also updated the hardware with spray paint to go with the oil rubbed bronze hardware vision we had for the rest of the house. We hung mirrors and homemade artwork above the bed.
Do those tulips make you want spring or what?
Goal #2: Overhaul Bathroom
The in progress shot:
We still need to do a few finishing touches, like shutters on the window for privacy, a few finish carpentry items and I’d love to get a new mirror that isn’t so black…
We did the shower in this great penny tile from Overstock.com.
Goal #3 and 4: Nursery for Baby and Big Boy Room for Drew
Here’s Drew’s bigger space:
Elle’s room (Drew’s former nursery) underwent a transformation when we ditched the sheepskin rug and the white IKEA chair. I’m still on the search for the perfect rug (the one I just ordered from Overstock was horrible with the bedding) and am trying to figure out how to reupholster the chair (I’m thinking of bringing in some sort of seaglass or Tiffany’s color…).
Goal #5: Finish Kitchen
We didn’t hit all of our goals for this space but we hit the two that make us the most happy… hello fabulous island and beachy chic bar stools! You’ll see in a post later this week our goals for 2014 in this space to completely finish it off!
And we accomplished one huge project that wasn’t on the list (I’ll be posting the completed project next week, the ceiling is already done but I don’t want to give anything away. :)).
All right… Life Goals…
Life Goal #1: Have a Baby.
Check. And she’s a pretty fabulous one even if she rarely sleeps. 🙂
Life Goal #2: Spend more time reading the Bible
I wasn’t as great at this as I would have liked to be and resolve to be better at this in the new year. I need to start my day right and my kids need to see that this is a priority for AJ and me.
Life Goal #3: Time Away
We went to Cape May, New Jersey and got on a plane with two kids. I was ridiculously nervous about this… as I am every time we embark on our five hour drives to New York to visit AJ’s family. But I’m finding that it usually goes better than the nightmare scenarios in my mind. Am I ready to fly the family to Europe yet? Nope, although I would love to go with just AJ. 🙂
We also spent a week in Maine with my family which was wonderful and relaxing… well, as relaxing as a vacation with two little kids can be. It’s really a family trip, not a vacation right?
Life Goal #4: Read a piece of classic literature
I didn’t even think about accomplishing this. In my free time I read completely relaxing books (and there were many of them) or books to study for the Sunday School class I’m teaching. And honestly, I don’t feel too guilty about not reading that piece of classic literature yet.
Tell me, what are your life and home goals for the coming year?
Our goals for 2014 will be on the blog this week with new pictures of the house, not that anything is drastically different, I just needed motivation to clean clean clean after Christmas, because contrary to what some blog readers believe my house is NOT perfectly clean, despite my best efforts… Trust me. 🙂
