Let’s take a look at some of the details of the porch… Look at that floor! I love the width of the porch; we went with a seven foot depth to give plenty of room to walk around furniture once we get it. We will need to stain the floor of the porch but are going to wait till it’s warmer out so it’ll dry properly.
Yesterday I gave our little boxwoods a trimming (they aren’t the perfectly shaped kind) and popped some big wintery pinecones around the base.
I took this photo to show you the difference in the lights. The one on the right is the new one we decided on and the one on the left is the minuscule on that was on the house when we bought it. We think we’ll move the light up one clapboard but AJ put it exactly where the other one was just to make sure we didn’t like that before he went to work cutting another piece of clapboard.
Nice stair we have there, huh? 🙂 We are going to get a granite slab to use as a step but just haven’t gotten there yet. We haven’t found the money tree yet.
Don’t you think boxwoods and hydrangeas will look just stunning around the porch?
Here is the light we went with… we looked and looked and kept gravitating towards this style. It was only $35 from Lowes and AJ took a little bit of the leftover Azek trim from the porch and made a white backing for the light to set it off.
You can tell from this picture that our builders cut the threshold to make it a more normal size (they cut about an inch off the front). So we need to use the electric sander on it and then re-stain it the same color as the porch floor once we get there.
