I want to go to the grocery store but I know that I’ll have two kids who will lose it from exhaustion so we head home and play for a little bit while I make lunch. It’s one of those days where Drew doesn’t feel like eating so we play the game where he can get a car back for each bite he takes. It’s amazing how much he’ll eat when he is having fun.
I love Day in the Life posts… for nothing else than looking back later and remembering what it was like at that specific moment in time… We started our day like we do every work day. The kids get up, Drew plays for a little bit and Elle eats Cherrios while I get AJ’s breakfast and lunch together (he’s getting ready while I do this).
After he heads out the door at 7:20am we sit down for breakfast. We are drinking Shakeology and eating a piece of toast with Stonewall Kitchen’s Holiday Jam. I love that stuff. As I feed Elle I’m talking to Drew and making my to-do list for the day.
At 8am Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is on so we watch two episodes of that while I paint two chairs for a client. The paint I’m using (Country Chic Chalk Paint in Dark Roast) is no odor and low VOC.
We then do baths but as it turns out the bath pictures were too scandelous for the web. 🙂 They spend a while splashing around and having fun and after they are all cleaned up and in their clothes they play in Drew’s room and I shower with the door open so I can hear if any chaos arrises, which, thankfully it doesn’t today. Elle must not have stolen any of Drew’s cars.
We are going to head out to Christmas Tree Shop so we get ready to go and head out around 10:30am. Elle naps in the car (I tried to put her down at home before bath but she’d have nothing to do with it). We go in the store to look at the baskets I need to pick up for a makeover project and Elle lasts about one second. Drew watches a Curious George on my phone for the 15 minutes we are in the store. We leave after picking up $42 worth of baskets.
I put them down for a nap and then quickly start working on this table for Makeover Week (starting February 10).
After working on the table with my Country Chic Paint I take some Antiquing Wax to another project I’m working on…
When I’m halfway done Elle wakes up, she’s only slept 45 minutes. I hold her and then let her move in her walker while I finish using the wax and then we sit down for snack time together. It’s so fun to hang out with each of the kids by themselves and really get time to focus on each of them. She starts getting antsy so sit on the couch while I nurse her and watch Friends and she sits next to me a plays a little but mostly just crawls all over me.
Drew wakes up to we go to return a couple of his Curious George books at the library… I just took a picture of this cute little yellow house by the library that I love.
…and then we drove by the beach.
I’m not 100% sure what happened in between here and making dinner but AJ got home and played with the kids and I made us stir fry for dinner.
Elle went to bed at 6:30 (I love the time nursing her before bed when she just snuggles right up) and then Drew went to sleep around 8:30 after about three stories. He and AJ will usually play cars after Elle goes to sleep. AJ let me off the hook for bedtime duties (we almost always do it together) since I was feeling overwhelmed about a project for a client. I worked on the project until we went to bed around 10ish. There you have it… our not so glamorous life. 🙂
