It has been so fun to read your comments this week… I’m guessing MH readers love makeovers, is that right? 🙂 I finally had a minute to answer a bunch of your questions in the comment section of Monday’s post… head on over there if you asked questions about the Country Chic Paint that I’ve been using!
One of my favorite parts of blogging is meeting people through it that I never would have met otherwise. When Andrea, a blog reader, contacted me to tell me that her dad was getting rid of a dresser he got at a storage unit (think A&E’s Storage Wars) I got really excited. The kids and I made the 45 minute drive one day in the truck for the dresser. I wasn’t sure what to do with it because of a couple of the drawers were really hard to open…
and then I remembered seeing dressers with baskets on Pinterest. So I played around with colors (Country Chic Paint’s Creme Brulee and Simplicity) and then got some baskets at Christmas Tree Shops that would fit the drawer area.
Here is the finished product with distressing and after applying Country Chic Paint’s dark antiquing wax:
The knobs were a Hobby Lobby find for $2 apiece and I loved their cheerful springy look. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to have a dresser with eight birds on it (overkill, maybe?) so I just bought two hoping for the perfect piece.
We took out this window when we redid our master bedroom and I painted it Bliss (by CCP) and then used the antiquing wax on it to give it the same look as the bird knobs. And really, is there anything as happy as seeing daffodils and tulips show up in the grocery store? They beg me to buy them every time.
A couple who are expecting their first baby just bought the dresser and are going to use it as a changing table. I love knowing happy stories like that when I sell a piece!
Come back tomorrow to find out what I did with the little children’s set!
