We opted for a large pressed board bead board in white; we loved how bright it made the porch feel.
But then something weird started happening… the ceiling started to get wavy. I completely forgot to get a photo of it but it was totally noticeable to anyone who looked up… there was probably a two to three inch difference in height from the bottom of the wave to the top, and this happened the entire length of the porch.
Our builders were the first ones to notice it when they came by to finish some caulking. It was the first time they had used the pressed board as a ceiling outside and it didn’t react well to being outside during this ridiculously wet and snowy winter even though there was zero water dripping in from the ceiling. So free of charge Boyd Builders replaced the ceiling with a wooden bead board ceiling (they’ve installed this type of ceiling many times before). That is quality customer service. They wanted to make sure they left us with a quality product.
and yes… we do still have to replace one of the porch lights. 🙂
We love the new ceiling. It feels so quality.
We love how it matches the floor. We aren’t sure if we’ll stain it or paint it or just seal it… the jury is still out.
I took these photos yesterday afternoon as it was snowing. Again. I don’t mind, I love watching the snow fall. My problem with winter isn’t the snow… it’s the cold. I’d love snow if it was 50+ degrees out. 🙂
