It’s 4:49am as I’m writing this… I love the mornings to sit downstairs with no kids. AJ and I are trying to adapt to a new schedule of him running at 5am before the craziness of the day starts. He’s training for Newport, Rhode Island’s marathon in October with his brother (both are incredibly talented runners) and needs to start carving out a chunk of time to get quality runs in. If you’re new to the blog you should know two of AJ’s major loves are running and real estate. I digress…I’ve been making some changes in the master lately, nothing too big but big enough to make the room feel lighter for summer. I added the bedding my parents gave us for our wedding. It’s a gorgeous set from Restoration Hardware. I’ll probably put the darker gray duvet back on the end of the bed for winter but this felt more calm and beachy for the summer. It’s funny how much light comes in from that little window in the nook we created. We don’t use the nook for anything but to collect dust but it adds interest to that side of the room. I just love those curtains… (if you are new around here they are West Elm shower curtains I turned into regular curtains). All of our framed photos are down that were surrounding the windows. We don’t have studs in the walls so they kept falling when the nails would wiggle or when Drew would run into the wall (you know when kids run back and forth, back and forth between rooms constantly?). I started really worrying they would fall on his head so down they came till AJ could secure them this week. Since the frames were filled with the gorgeous pink flowers I’m collecting shots now that will fit better with space now. That’ll be a blog post for another day. 🙂 As soon as you walk into the master you see the galvanized bucket we use for our Christmas tree. I put all of our towels in there since we don’t have a linen closet. The ladder is actually one that is not just decoration, it’s the one for our attic. The only space to get up there is in the master closet so when the window was put in there a few weeks ago everything came out and the ladder just made it’s new home here. What have you been up to this summer? Anything notable? We’ve been spending the long days trying to do something to get out of the house every night after dinner, sometimes for a walk and sometimes the beach.
