When I hosted the Melissa Lyons art giveaway, and officially launched the new website, I asked readers to give me ideas for Etsy shops that they loved. I wanted to be able to partner with some of them this year. I had never heard of about half the shops you mentioned, so thank you! One of my new finds was 163 Designs. They are based in Maine, sell to LL Bean and offer amazing coastal products. Sounds like a match made in heaven for my New England beachy loving self. Lately Drew has been in love with airplanes, in addition to his normal car obsession. My dad brought him to an small airport by my parents’ house a while ago and Drew still talks about it constantly. We just went out to see AJ’s family and there is a small airport directly across the street so we just saw small planes landing and taking off constantly. Drew loved it! There’s your background for my newest addition to Drew’s room.
I ordered this dynamite canvas fabric engraving for him from 163 Design Company. My goal was to create a modified small gallery wall for him with a few of the things he loved while still keeping it sort of rugged looking. I use a lot more wood tones in his bedroom than anywhere else in the house and I wanted to utilize that here but not have it be overpowering.
I debated between these four airplane drawings that 163 Design Company offers for a ridiculously long time and finally settled on the B-25 Mitchell.
I selected the B-25 Mitchell, it was the first item to be hung next to Drew’s learning board. Then I used two older wood clipboards that we found in the basement and hung some photos of cars that Drew and I Googled. He loves Fiats so I had to include one of them. 🙂 I edited both of the photos in Google’s Picasa with the Pencil Sketch feature. I varied the strength of the drawing and then gradually added some color back in. It was so easy… and free.
I love how his little wall turned out and love how it incorporates more of what Drew loves into his space.
I received an amazing product for this post but ALL opinions are my own… including how it so perfect for Drew’s room and how it’s so beautifully done. I’ve got my eye on this canvas engraving or the amazing whale for our home (birthday, AJ? :))
