It’s been a wonderful weekend with family and cooking and baking for them. The fall weather was perfect and we ended Saturday night with a mini bonfire and s’mores… the first time the kids have experienced them (outside of a microwave. :). The past few days I was playing around with one of my favorite fall tables yet. This table makes me pretty excited because I’m giving away most of what you see on it and if you don’t win I’ve got a promo code for you.
I based the table around this amazing acacia pieces from Pacific Merchants Trading Company. The pieces are some of the most gorgeous wood… I wanted to create a warm fall-ish table without using any of the oranges, reds or yellows known for fall.
I knew I wanted to stage the little Bermuda bowls with some great fall salad (this is just spinach, dried cranberries, feta and pecans but I’m pretty sure it’d be even better with a goat cheese). The little bowls are the perfect size for a pre-dinner salad.
I made some banana bread the other day and then filled in the gaps around the baguette tray with chocolate chip cookies and clippings of boxwood off of our bushes. The runner is a thick piece of burlap ribbon randomly twisted…it’s about 4-5 inches thick.
I’d be crazy if I expected anyone to actually use burlap for a napkin. I just had to throw away all my white napkins that morning because they were embarrassingly disgusting. You were not about to see those stained beasts in blog photos. No, you will instead believe that I expect my guests to use incredibly rough burlap for napkins. Nothing says “welcome to my house” like burlap-burn from your napkin. 🙂 In all reality all of our guests used fabric scraps that I’ve made into napkins simply by fraying the edges. They are so soft now.
The whole color scheme of the tablescape was inspired by these beauties. I love the color and how fall-ish pears seem to me without being typical. They are in my favorite yard sale find ever: this 50 cent urn.
These sweet berries were a $1.99 find at Trader Joe’s and have lasted nearly a week already. I love their sweet peach coloring mixed with the burlap ribbon.
And now…. drum roll please… the giveaway and a 15% off promo code for Migonis Home readers… let me assure you, I will be buying some additional things with that 15% off promo code for Christmas gifts (maybe something for us too like these jars that I’m in LOVE with).
PROMO CODE: You can enter “MigonisHome” at checkout on our site from now until a week after the giveaway closes for 15% off any purchase from Pacific Merchant Trading Company. That way, everyone who wants something can win, at least a little. 🙂
