Happy Friday, my wonderful friends! We have a top-notch fall day outside today so I’m sitting on the front porch typing away. The kids are napping and I have a date with my mom tonight to a dinner for Prison Fellowship. Today I’m sharing the most simple project ever… how to create a fall planer that even the most black-thumbed person can do.
Things you’ll need:
1. A wide mouth planer
2. A pumpkin (any kind)
3. Gourds / Mini Pumpkins
4. Pine cones
I found this planer on the side of the road in someone’s trash pile… which is no surprise if you know me at all and once you see how worn the top is. Here are the easy-peasy steps:
First, place your pumpkin in the planer. Make sure dirt or rocks allow the pumpkin to sit just under the very top of the planter.
Surround the pumpkin with acorns. The kids and I just found ours on the side of the road under a big oak.
Place some gourds in alternating colors around the pumpkin.
Then pop some pine cones in the mix to give some added texture.
Come back next week (I’m aiming for Monday!) and there will be a great giveaway here in time for some holiday entertaining… Here’s a photo hint. 🙂
One more thing:
I’m always playing with the blog to make it more user friendly. Can you tell me what you think of the new layout? I took into account some comments I’d received from friends who did a blog critique for me who said the header was too big and then I played with a few other things they gave me advice on.. I need to replace the header up on the blog now with something a little bit bigger but for everything else is mostly set. Do you find it easy to navigate? Is it pleasing to the eye and user-friendly? I can totally take constructive criticism but please be nice. 🙂
