This was a fun year for us…. we didn’t get everything done on our wish list, or even half of it, actually, but we did complete our front porch, add new windows and shutters and make some pretty fun projects… here are my faves (my top ten with one bonus one. :)) I loved scrolling through the projects and seeing the progress that’s occurred on our house since the beginning of the year. Our front porch was completed in January… as we look back now it’s funny to think that we thought this was a fantastic after. I mean, we totally realized the house needed to be painted and we wanted to add a middle window and shutters but to have a porch was the greatest gift ever!
In February I took on a Makeover Week to transform five different pieces. I had found a dresser style that I loved in a nearby store and wondered if I could replicate the interesting paint look. You can read about how I did that HERE.
This is one of my favorite projects from March as I prepped for Easter.. I wanted to make something that replicated the amazing mossy products that I was seeing at Pottery Barn Kids but that didn’t have their price tag. You can read how I created this in about half an hour HERE.
In April, once it got a little warmer outside, I was inspired to give our front porch a little lovin’. As you can see from the first photo we needed to perk it up with paint so I used this gorgeous color to perk up our front door and then I painted our house number on it. This is definitely one of the most inexpensive updates that we’ve done to our home but it’s made a big impact. You can read about our Blueprint door HERE.
In May I was searching for the perfect meaningful gift for my parents and decided to incorporate my love of a new app on my phone and a photo of my parents house to create a gift for them. No special skills or talent were required to make this watercolor (thankfully!). You can read about how I did it HERE.
I branched a little out of the ordinary for this post and put on my Realtor hat. THIS POST has five ideas broken down to give someone thinking of their home an good checklist for what to think of before putting their house on the market.
June was a good month for our house. Really good. Adding five new windows made a dramatic improvement to the look of the house. We added the middle window and the left two this past June and then two additional ones in our living room. Our house is considerably warmer this winter than it was last and for that we are completely thrilled. You can read about adding the middle window with Coastal Windows & Exteriors HERE.
The first Thursday of every month I take on a project with April from House by Hoff and Shayna from The Wood Grain Cottage. In July AJ and I tackled designing and building our own shutters. I wanted something incredibly simple and inexpensive and we came up with a design that looks great on our house. I shared some tips for how to simply build your own HERE.
This post was a little out of the ordinary as well… I joined Instagram in January and loved the simple way of connecting with people, gathering great ideas and promoting the blog. As I started to get serious about seeing Instagram as a business tool it started to get really interesting as I began to analyze some patterns I was observing on Instagram for when my best growth in numbers and interaction with followers occurred. I’ve outlined some of my tips HERE.
In my past life I was an event planner and still absolutely love setting a beautiful table. For this tablescape I used some gorgeous pieces from Mariposa, a company in our town, to stage the table and some natural branches from our church. It was a blast to play around with creating a table that was autumnal but not typical. You can read about the table HERE.
Without a doubt one of the most popular posts of the year was our Christmas Home Tour. I find that every year I grow to love Christmas a little bit more. This year I used loads of fresh greenery, gorgeous ornaments and loads of natural elements to decorate every room in our house. Click HERE to see the whole tour.
I’ll be posting later this week about my goals for life and our home this coming year… I’m trying to make them a bit more realistic than I did in 2014. 🙂
But wait, there’s more!
Some of my favorite bloggy friends are sharing their years in review today too, and believe me, these ladies have had amazing years! You won’t want to miss out on their best posts, so be sure to hop around and check them out!
