You know when that moment when you can finally feel your house coming together? When it doesn’t feel like it will be half undone forever? That was the way it felt with this mini stairway makeover. The drywall was half done for four years so every time we went up and down the stairs it was taunting us.
But then AJ decided one day to just do it and then made it his goal to get the runner laid and the drywall done by the end of April vacation.
He did it. Our jute runner is made up from two Rugs USA runners. A few years ago we found some jute rugs by West Elm on Craigslist and loved the texture, weight and feel of the rug… and then we got this runner and it was even better than the West Elm one. It feels even more quality and thick than the West Elm one.
I washed the floor right before taking these photos. When you have two little kids you have to get every thing done for a post in the couple hours of nap time.
I don’t have time to wait for the floor to dry before taking photos.
At Christmas I picked up this orb from Home Goods for $25 and thought about how great it would be as a chandelier in our big unfinished hallway. All it took was a pendent light kit from Lowe’s.
One more slightly more quiet and a lot more comfortable and mostly done space to cross off our list.
I’m painting the railing tomorrow, we need to hang some art in the stairway and finish the molding but it feels so much more manageable now.
I think I’d love to hire someone to just finish things around our house. A little molding here, a little trim work there, you know… anyone else feel like they have projects 70% done everywhere?
I was provided the runner by Rugs USA but all my opinions of it are my own. I wasn’t told what to say or how to say it.
