Turning the former dining room into the current office was a great decision for our family. The motivation behind it was to have a designated space for our real estate business and have a set spot to bring clients to that had doors that could close for kid-free conversations. We at the middle to end of three different real estate transactions (including our flip!) and it feels great to have a designated room and space to spread out different things for those deals and have set places for basic items like our printer, office supplies or any forms we need for an offer.
As with all the other spaces in the house this room is still very much in the works although we’ve been very fortunate to have pretty much everything we need for a cozy office. The desk was an amazing find from my favorite thrift store (Savers in Danvers for any local folks). It was dark brown when I found it and had a $25 price tag on it. It’s one of my favorite second hand finds ever… tied for the top three with our kitchen table and the dining room buffet.
The chair is another one of my favorite second-hand pieces. It was an unused chair up in one of the Sunday school rooms at my church and I offered to replace it with something else if I could take this one. I love the lines of the chair… I don’t even mind the spot where a dog clearly gnawed at the chair arm. 🙂 I’d love to see this recovered in a different color because it doesn’t go with the room but I will miss the fun and crazy green.
We were so fortunate that the former owners left us some furniture. This couch was a gift from them and it’s perfect for in this space. It’s tailored and professional looking but still comfy enough to plop on it with the laptop and do work from there.
You probably recognize the fireplace from our master bedroom in our last home. Because the size of the fireplace didn’t work in our current master (it was that or a bed) we opted to place it in this room… I’m anticipating cozy blogging sessions or a roaring fireplace with hot cider for clients (or as “roaring” as an electric fireplace gets). The sea fan art will be hung above the mantle.
Almost all of the house is painted an off white except for this room and the pink family room. Absolutely nothing has to be done in here paint-wise right away but I would like to do something eventually that has a little bit of color.
