It’s Hale Navy for the win!
We are making great progress and I promised you an update even though the project isn’t complete yet. Drew woke up in the middle of my painting so you can imagine, right? The full reveal will have to wait until I complete the walls.
We’ve rescued some pretty awful bedrooms at the flip with little more than paint and new carpet but for some reason it feels like this room, more than few other spaces I’ve worked on shows the true transforming power of paint. I’ll let the photos speak for themselves.
When painting the living room in our last house one of the two colors we chose between was Benjamin Moore’s Hale Navy. We loved the color and opted to use it for the built-ins here. It’s definitely dark but I love how it pulls out the navy in the carpet (another top contender was Polo Blue by Ben Moore). I still painting the outside of the built-ins but they will be Ultra Pure White by Behr until we figure out a trim color for the house… which will match whatever we decide on for the kitchen cabinets.
I’m leaning towards pulling out a light gray for the walls and either navy or dark gray for the curtains and then getting more of the great IKEA pillow covers to throw around the window seats to bring out more of the bright sea blue in the rug. The entire makeover was sparked by the colors in the rug.
It looks a little different from before we painted, doesn’t it? 🙂 Just in case you forgot… here’s the before photo of the built-ins!
