About a month or month and a half ago I got this fantastic print from Minted that I thought would be perfect above our mantle. I love how, as I sit for any meal, I can see both the painting and the blues of the living room. As I’ve been brainstorming my plan for our home I’ve been incorporating the colors in this painting constantly and I’ve been going more bold with color than I have ever had the guts to previously.
Here it is up close… probably any photo you see of our dining room will be grainy and dark until I can figure out how to photograph this room. It is easily the darkest space in the house.
My mom and I went to a World Market that opened near us a couple of weeks ago. I fell in love with some of their bright and happy chairs and have been dreaming about how we can add them into our space. I left the store with this adorable cookie jar and a pumice stone (I know, big spender) but the cookie jar pulls out some of the aqua in the print that is more obvious when seeing it in person.
What really caught my eye while in the store were their chairs… My sister always joked that I collect chairs. I do, although to my credit I’ve been much better in recent years. 🙂 I can see this wingback chair as being the perfect chair for the end of our dining room table or amazing pulled up next to the buffet. Wouldn’t that be gorgeous with the oyster print above the mantle?
This chair is just adorable… I’m not sure where she would go but I just loved it.
My hunt for the perfect dining room table still continues. I’ve yet to start my fund for it as most of our spare money is going to pay off any debt besides our house before the end of the year (you may remember this from my 2015 Goals post, which is interesting to look back on because when I wrote it we weren’t even thinking about moving!). I’ve added a couple of new favorite dining room tables to the mix as I keep researching. This affordable one is a brand new one from World Market and is very similar to a Restoration Hardware and Pottery Barn one that I love; but, if the top is like the other ones at World Market it has a more synthetic material instead of wood feel.
This very similar one from Ballard Designs is about $500 more but I think it would look and feel more like wood than anything synthetic.
Back to chairs. I told you I was obsessed. 🙂 These two styles were my favorites from World Market. I’m thinking the smarter choice would be the darker color for both styles of chairs. 🙂
Lastly, I’m working on fluffing up our guest room. And by that I mean getting a bare mattress off the floor. 🙂 We only had three bedrooms in our last house so this room is completely a hodgepodge of stuff. My in-laws are coming to visit us Halloween weekend so hopefully you’ll see some progress being made in this room before then! In the meantime, I’m brainstorming about working a feminine navy theme in here to jive with Drew’s masculine navy room. I love this duvet and think I’m going to get a gorgeous feminine headboard for the space.
Word to the Wise:
Before you do any shopping at World Market (or really anywhere online) make sure you join Ebates… it’s this great program where many online retailers will give you a percentage of your sales back in cash. World Market will give you 4% back on every purchase. It’s pretty fab. Click HERE to join. I’ve blogged about this program and I’ve made $224 back in the program since I started. I sounds scammy but I assure you it’s not… read my post and it’ll explain it. 🙂

coming up next week
I’d love to get your feedback on a mini series I starting next week… we own some rentals and have sold a couple flips. Doing this has allowed me to stay home with the kids and set us up for the future. I want to do a series on things we’ve learned while researching to buy, the actual purchasing process, how to rent, etc. and FAQs about those properties but I need your help. What are your questions? What scares you, excites you, confuses you, etc. No question is a stupid question. You wouldn’t believe how many “stupid” questions I had for AJ when we started dating and he was just getting started purchasing investment properties (on a teacher’s salary!!!) so trust me, I won’t think anything is stupid because I probably asked them. You can comment here or email me at email@example.com.
