I’ve done a few Getting it Cheaper posts. If you aren’t familiar with them they aren’t sponsored by the store or website I’m writing about, it’s just a place where I’ve found some great deals. Today I’m featuring Freecycle. Have you ever heard of it? It’s this fantastic website / daily email where people post things they are looking to get rid of, for free, and post things they are looking for as well. I signed up once I saw my mom got a gorgeous clock from Pottery Barn for free and some bikes for the kids that were in great shape.
You can email the owner of the item and they will usually leave it on their front steps for you or meet you somewhere for pick-up if they are hesitant to have you know their address. I’ve had some great luck getting rid of things but I’ve also picked up these fabulous items for FREE!
One of my absolute favorite finds was this artificial Christmas Tree and all the lights on it! It is such a good fake. I got it about a week before Christmas last year and popped it on my porch since we already had a real tree inside.
The same person who gave away the Christmas tree was later giving away three of these laundry baskets. We use them on a regular basis! (Check out what the before and after house tour from our last home HERE.)
I found our fall front door wreath on Freecycle…
and then this wreath was another Freecycle find which I added the ice-skate to.
I have been looking and looking on Freecycle for bed rails for Elle now that she’s in her big girl bed and last week I found perfect ones! Elle was jumping so fast I wasn’t able to get a great photo of her!
We always keep our eyes open for lawnmowers that are free or incredibly cheap to keep at our rentals so that we don’t have to transport one mower everywhere. I found this Honda lawnmower that works well, the owner was just upgrading.
I tried to pick it up with the kids, while in our Nissan Rogue, not our truck and let’s just say it was an adventure. Drew ended up having no laces in his shoes so I could tie the back shut (while cleaning out the back of the car I accidentally removed our bungee cords). 🙂
Check Freecycle and see if they have a group already set up in your area, if not, start one! You’ll get an email like this every day there is something posted for free.
Hope you find some fantastic deals! 🙂 For more “Getting it Cheaper” posts click on any one of these links:
