Welcome to part two of three of our Christmas Home Tour… If I were to pile all of these into one post you’d be spending forever in front of your computer waiting for pictures to load. 🙂 I’m teaming up with some fantastic bloggers, along with Home Decorators Collection, to bring you today’s tours, plus the rest this week. And… drum roll please, you have the chance to win one of two $250 Home Decorators Collection gift cards! (Check out the giveaway at the end of this post, as well as the holiday home tour lineup!) Home Decorators Collection generously allowed each of the participating bloggers to choose some items to include in our tour, so I’ll be sharing my picks throughout this post.
I love having a new space to decorate and dressing up our dining room for Christmas has been a blast… especially this mantle. I took some faux garland (a nice way to say “incredibly cheap looking $6 Black Friday score), a variety of greens from our yard and some floral wire and created a completely custom garland in about 30ish minutes. I adore how it turned out and how it doesn’t even remotely look like a cheapy fake garland anymore.
My goal for the entire house was to create a space that looked traditional, classy and custom with a whole lot of sparkles and silver. The garland was topped with six of the the Martha Stewart Living glass ornaments. Because the set came with a good variety of neutral colors and shapes I was able to not have ever ornament look the same.
The flowers on the mantle of white dendrobium orchids from ProFlowers. I had them delivered a couple of days before our annual Christmas party in case I needed them to open up a little bit before all of our guests came on Saturday evening. I love how they look surrounding the gorgeous sign Rachel, from Maison de Pax, made for me as a hostess gift when she and her hubby visited a few weeks ago!
The other side of our dining room was decked out as a bar for our Christmas party. (If you missed what this dresser / buffet looked like before I redid it you’ve got to check it out HERE.) The table was where we put all of the food so we moved the chairs into the other room so people could easily make their way around the space.
I love these glittery Christmas trees I got from the Home Decorators Collection. I originally ordered them to pair with the cute little house you saw in Elle’s room yesterday HERE but I wanted to keep these downstairs for me. 🙂
This view looking into the living room is one of my faves now that the built-ins are white and navy. Years ago I got these mini chair back wreaths from my parents and they’ve shown up in all sorts of places since 2012… this year they are welcoming people into the room we spend most of our time.
Our tree is made up of loads of ornaments from various places… I can always remember where each is from so every time I set up the tree it’s a fun walk down memory lane.
Despite my best efforts the rest of the pink ceiling did not get painted by this tour or our Christmas party. Hopefully now that the party is over I’ll have more time to devote to projects! 🙂
One of our new ornaments for the tree this year was a set of four sisal birds that I’m in love with; the blue ribbon hanging from their mouths adds just the right amount of color to the tree.
I get my love for decorating the tree from my mom who always makes hers look incredible. As a kid I remember that she would have sets of things that made the tree feel cohesive. She had a set of engraved bells for most of the years she and my dad have been married, another were clear snowflakes and the third was that basic burgundy balls. I feel like my version of her snowflakes are these spun glass icicles I got this year. They add a subtle sparkle, especially if you squint your eyes and try to make yourself cry (did you ever do that as a kid? :)).
Here’s a close up of the built in that you can see all the way from the kitchen. My Pottery Barn white serving ware is displayed on the shelves (painted Ben Moore’s Hale Navy). The bottom shelf is made up of some beautiful boxwood greens from our yard, a Pottery Barn banner and some silver Restoration Hardware ornaments that I have had pre-AJ.
That’s all for now… come back on Thursday for the last part of our home tour but be sure to check out the entire Holiday Home Tour lineup! You can also follow along on social media with hashtag #HDCholidayhomes.
