I love holidays. I love building traditions with our little family. Wayfair encouraged myself and some other bloggers to share what their mornings look like… I can show you any morning anytime but today is all about Easter. It started off with me sneaking out of the house to our sunrise service at the rocks on the ocean.
A group of about 30 of us gathered for a 20ish minute service right on the water.
I headed home to Drew, Elle and AJ, who was manning kids so ready for Easter baskets. We gave them their Easter baskets from my mother-in-law then sent them on a little scavenger hunt to find eggs that would lead them to their little Easter gift. I didn’t want to go crazy so we gave each of them a small gift. Drew got a set of five new cars and Elle received a cute little animal hedgehog family for her dollhouse.
One of my favorite parts of any holiday is breakfast, or really, any day for that matter. It’s my favorite meal… I almost always make some form of Cinnamon Brioche French Toast with fruit and Easter morning was no exception. We had a gorgeous, and huge, bunch of tulips that I brought over to my parents’ that made up our centerpiece. Nothing says early spring like tulips.
I was determined that we wouldn’t fight or yell or rush to get out the door for church.
It didn’t happen.
My clothes were ready to go but no one else’s were… we were batting at 25%. 🙂 I still needed to iron the kids clothes and stitch up a little rip in Elle’s Easter dress. I found her dress the day before at a pop-up kids’ consignment sale that I score at each fall and spring. Her dress is a little Baby Gap number.
Without too much fighting we got to church early. Elle proceeded to keep her eyes closed almost the whole service after seeing someone who scared her during the service (it doesn’t take much, she pretty frightened of people with wrinkles, let’s hope she gets over that fear quickly!) and she snuggled on my lap.
After church the kids raced outside for an Easter egg hunt. Can you see Drew’s face below… he kept asking if he could go find more eggs, even though we repeatedly assured him they’d all been found.
That’s how our morning ended! We spent the rest of the day at my parents’ house with my grandfather, my sister, my sister’s boyfriend who flew in from London and my sister’s friend. It was a great day!
