This party might be right up there for winning the record for the quickest party ever planned. I texted friends with kids that are around Elle’s age yesterday morning and we had the party tonight. Talk about whirlwind.
I bought 20 yards of pink tulle and then LIT-erally (name that show!) five minutes later my friend Heather texts and said that she still has the table tutu she made for an event a few years ago. Into a drawer went my tulle and in about 10 minutes I tacked up this super cute tutu and boom… a pink tutu party was born. I’m all for easy party decor!
All the pink dishes are from my mom’s stepmother who graciously gives me all the pink depression glass she finds! I raided my dining room for my whole collection and used every bit we had.
AJ and I had been debating for a while whether Elle would rather have a mini shopping spree (and I mean mini) and dessert with family or a party with friends in our home. She’d been talking about a party for a while so we finally settled on that and decided we’d do it after her birthday… and then she started making me think she thought the party was going to be on her actual birthday. So I got the ball rolling to invite a few friends and family members to a little party at our home for Elle tonight.
I may have had a little more than 24 hours to prepare but it didn’t stop me from putting a coat of primer over the yellow dresser that our TV used to stand on so it would match the party decor better (crazy person, I know. 🙂 but in fairness to me it needed to happen anyway). We popped some pink straws from Target’s Dollar Spot and some boas from Hobby Lobby’s Valentine’s Day 90% off sale onto the makeshift bar cart with some pink lemonade.

I have very few photos of the kids today because almost every single one is a blurry in action shot like this one. When friends and family come over everyone becomes high energy and sprints around the house non-stop.
For months Elle has been asking for a pink bike so we got her one with some fun clothes I got at the outlets in Maine and our favorite consignment store (kids don’t care if their birthday gifts are from the consignment store!).
I told AJ that I should plan all of our birthdays the day before now… it alleviates so much stress from feeling like you have to plan a party that everyone knows you took months to plan.
