I shared a few new pieces from my guest bedroom redo with you on Tuesday. Today I’m sharing the low down of where I go to get affordable pieces for an inexpensive makeover like this.
As I mentioned on Tuesday these nightstands (they’re really end tables) are from Better Homes and Gardens at Walmart. I topped each one with two inexpensive vases, one with shells I collect each morning while I run or walk on the beach and the other with some gorgeous hydrangeas from my parents’ house. The lamp was a Wayfair find (although it’s not in stock any longer) and it’s small enough that it’s perfect for a slender nightstand. I love the beachy vibe of the wood. Home Goods and Hobby Lobby are two great spots for lamps as well.
I purchased the headboard (I linked an incredibly similar one… here it is in navy) about six months ago and never posted about it because I didn’t have a bed set up to post about. I zoomed in so you could see the texture of the fabric. When I purchased it I didn’t realize exactly how the fabric looked. Honestly I didn’t love it at first but as soon as I set it up in this room with all the other accessories I knew it would work well. The headboard in our master bedroom is similarly priced. If you are looking for an entire bed I’m in love with this one because it looks like some of the high end ones without even breaking $500 (this one is on my wish list because our bed didn’t make it through the move that well).
The bedding set was a steal, even compared to Home Goods, where, at least at our Home Goods they are now making your purchase your shams separately now. This set was under $40 for the quilt and shams. Another great source for quilts, like this one that I have in Elle’s room, is from Hayneedle. Shortly after AJ and I got engaged I found a bed set that I adored at the Restoration Hardware outlet. If you have one of these near you there are some good deals to be snagged especially when they have an additional 30% off on the entire store (which I’ve found to be fairly frequently). We have used our RH set ever since we got married and it’s still going strong (except for some stains, thank you Drew and Elle for putting a greasy lotion container on the sham) and is beautiful quality. You can see the set in our house tour.
I’m generally one of those cold people and I love to make sure I have comfy throws in every room. This one isn’t the normal faux fur I usually love but it’s perfectly lightweight (this one is a great substitute and under $30), while still being a little warm, for summer. I’ve found other good sources for throws at Home Goods, Marshalls, TJ Maxx and Jo-Ann Fabrics (bring your 40% off coupon!).
The gray pillows are from Hobby Lobby. When they were having their 50% off sale on all pillow covers I stocked up and grabbed each of these for $5. Yep… way cheaper than these from Pottery Barn but they look shockingly similar.
The navy and white stripped pillow was a Home Goods find (I adore that store) and generally find little accents there to make a space feel special like the glass tray on the back of our half bath toilet or the little silver accent table in our office.
The nightstands in this room are from the Better Homes and Gardens line at Walmart but the ones in our bedroom are from Joss & Main. They are much larger and were under $250 each. They are the same quality as something from Pottery Barn but are much friendlier on the wallet.
