At the end of the day, after the kids are asleep and I’ve forced myself to do one or two productive things, like put away a giant pile of laundry or clean up the kitchen, one of my favorite things to do is put my PJs on early and climb into bed with a good book and some hot chocolate. It is one of the most relaxing and comfortable ways to spend time.
If you’ve been following along for a while you know that I’ve been putting together my own mood board for a bedroom refresh. My theory is, we are in here about 340 nights a year, let’s make it special and feel luxurious. I have my eye on this bed or this bed and want to get a large rug for our room. Another tweak I want to make is to replace our closet doors to a very classic six panel door. Those are all big updates. I’ve always thought one of the quickest, and least expensive, ways to make a bedroom feel luxurious and updated is to invest in some sheets with some special detailing (just look at any of those gorgeously made bed in the catalogs you pour over!).
When Perfect Linens asked me if I wanted to try out some of their sheets I said I was game after reading the reviews online. Nearly every review was five stars with people saying these were the best sheets they’ve ever slept on so I wanted to try it out and see what the hype was. There were a few different options to select from, my two criteria were that they have some special detailing to them and get great reviews for comfort. I chose the Second Skin 400 thread count sheets. They look gorgeous on our bed and feel great to sleep on. I asked AJ for his thoughts after sleeping on them and his favorite part is that they felt like old broken in sheets that weren’t too crinkly or stiff… it just felt natural to sleep in them. One of my favorite parts wasn’t even from sleeping on them… it was when I was making the bed. We have a pillow top mattress which is 2-3 inches higher than a typical mattress which makes finding sheets that aren’t tugging at the corners a pain… these fit beautifully!
Here’s the one downer: these sheets cost about $100 for a queen size pair. It’s not cheap. But, high thread count sheets from Home Goods aren’t cheap either. So here are my thoughts: I’m in this room almost every night of the year expect for a few vacations. It’s fun to have some sheets in here that make me feel like I’m at a luxurious bed and breakfast and yet in the comfort and ease of my own home. I wouldn’t say these sheets are head and shoulders above others we own but they feel very comfortable and definitely special with the detailing. There are some great options for other kinds of sheets from Perfect Linens like a sheet made specifically for people with allergies.
