I haven’t been this excited about a post in a long time. Probably because this post signifies the end of waiting a year and a half for something I have been so ridiculously excited to have in our home. Remember when we were driving down to the Raymour & Flanigan store and we decided to stop into the Restoration Hardware Outlet just on the off chance that this time they’d have that table we’d been waiting for? Well, our plan had been to go to Raymour & Flanigan and pick out some chairs for the living room and get a bed. Plans change when you have a dining room table that seats 12 with no chairs. We changed focus and started looking for chairs that would work with the table. It was AJ who spotted these beauties, the Fair Harbour Dining Chair, and we ordered ten as fast as we could (that’s what you do when you foolishly bring your children furniture shopping with you).
The finish of the table doesn’t coordinate perfectly with the finish of the chair legs so we may use a weathering stain on the table to give it a slight grayish tint without being too matchy matchy. All in all we love these chairs. They are classic, great-looking and comfortable, our three biggest requirements when choosing furniture. I will often stand in the corner of the room and just stare… I love taking in the space. I can’t believe it’s our house. It’s such a gift to have a space where we can comfortably have twelve over for dinner… and not worry about kids dropping things on the chairs (thank you protection plan… that $250 will pay for itself, I’m sure. If a professional, who will come to our house, can’t get a stain out of one of the chairs they will be replaced for free).
As I was taking these photos today I was struck by how “us” these chairs are, case in point: look at the view from the office into the dining room. We have very similar linen slub fabric on the chairs in the office… with nail head trim. I guess when you love something you gravitate towards it again and again.
What do you think of the dining room? I’d love to hear… I’d also love your advice on what to replace this flushmont light with based off that it connects the dining room to the office above. I’m having trouble deciding!
Have a great weekend, Friends!
