I never cease to be in awe of the power of paint. You can take a one room and give it a completely different personality just with one morning’s work. I’ve always loved our half bath makeover minus two things: one, the light fixture and two, the paint color.
Sherwin-Williams Sea Salt was gorgeous in every photo I found of it. Then once I had it on all the walls of our half bathroom, well… not so much. I think it needed to be in a light filled area. We have zero natural light in here and it’s shaped like a miniature upside down L so no natural light reaches it from the hallway. So, I did what probably seems like the opposite of what most people would do. I chose one of the darkest colors I could find and embraced it. Now, I love the space!
When Elle and I were at Lowe’s recently picking out something for a makeover you’ll see later this week or next I came upon their section of HGTV colors by Sherwin-Williams. Well, you had me at HGTV. I’d been thinking about something daring for the bathroom, chickened out and bought a quart of medium gray. I painted the entire bathroom with it but because of the lighting situation there was zero wow factor. I knew I should have gone for the glam dark gray I was looking at. So, two days later I was back at the store and bought a quart of Sherwin-Williams Web Gray. Dynamite. The wainscoting pops beautifully now.
As for my light, that nemesis… well, I bought this one and then my plan-ruining, but right, husband pointed out it didn’t have a fan in it and that ceiling needed one. Cue all the sighs… because wouldn’t this light have been dynamite in there? Let’s just look at one before and after… because all makeovers are more fun with a good before.
