Have you ever read the Leonardo DiVinci quote “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.”? I read it for the first time the other day and it sums up the direction I want to go with this house and all my decorating. I don’t want anything frou frou or over the top. I want no clutter. I want simple decor that feels calming. Especially now that the twins are with us and I feel like there is so little margin.
One of my absolute favorite splurges are flowers. I want them in every room. When Balsam Hill asked if I wanted to try out their spring faux flower arrangements I jumped at the chance because, despite not being wild about faux flowers in general, I knew I had to try these. Remember we got a Balsam Hill Christmas Tree this year? I am still in shock at how incredibly life-like that tree looked so I wanted to see if these flowers would be the same.
I wouldn’t say they are as life-like as the tree but they are incredibly good faux flowers. They look gorgeous sitting on our nightstands and dressers and the forsythia wreath makes me so happy each time I see it. The downfall of the forsythia wreath is that it is so sharp with the navy door that it’s making me ridiculously impatient to paint the rest of our exterior shutters and doors navy (AJ and I hate the dark brown that was there when we moved in)… and we, without a doubt, have about another month until there will be consistently 50+ degree days to do that. I’m already picturing this amazing door mat with the navy door and pop of yellow in the wreath. I’m going to move the succulent wreath to our side door once I paint that door navy.
Which are your favorites? Mine is a toss up between the ones our on nightstand and the forsythia wreath.
