This past week was hard for our family. We had the pretty sudden death of my grandfather. He was fabulous and one of the hobbies that he loved ever since my grandmother died was photography. If you walked into his home you’d find photos all over the fridge and on tables and many Christmases we gave him a new framed photo of the kids. Similarly, my parents and in-laws have all their grandkids’ birth announcements on their fridge… that being said, especially in this year of not having as much interactions as normal it’s such a fun gift to get a gorgeous birth announcement in the mail (or really any fun mail is such a treat now, right?).
It’s easy to convince yourself that birth announcements aren’t something you need to spend money on right after you have the added expense of a child… but let me tell you from experience how much people love getting cards like this in the mail… Drew’s is still on my parents’ fridge ten years later. Each Christmas I save all our Christmas cards so we can see how all our friends grow each year (Drew and Elle love looking at them each year!) and I think birth announcements would be such a fun time capsule submission to put into my Christmas card stacks.
Basic Invite has so many gorgeous cards… I could hardly pick out my five favorites and it made me wish I could send some cute announcements out… as an added bonus they are 40% of until Sunday. Even if you don’t have baby announcements to send I adore their moving announcements (is it weird I was picking out which one to send even though we aren’t moving???) and the custom stationery (I LOVE having my own notecards with my name on it… it feels so posh and classy. :)).
